Longneck Lagoon, Cattai. Picture: Geoff Jones
THERE is still one week left to submit photos to our We Are Hawkesbury: 25 Places Photographic Competition.
Entries will close on October 27 at 5pm. Entry details can be found here.
We have have had only a handful of photos from the following suburbs: Agnes Banks, South Windsor/Bligh Park, Colo, Bilpin, Kurmond, Glossodia, Wisemans Ferry, Cattai, Maraylya, St Albans/Upper MacDonald/Lower MacDonald, Oakville, Scheyville, Tennyson.
We’re still seeking more junior photos as well.
For a few last minutes photography tips, here is what Gazette photographer Geoff Jones had to suggest:
- Early morning and late afternoon are best for landscapes. Take them at first or last light.
- It also helps if an image has foreground interest. You don’t just want a photo of empty landscape, you need to include something to draw someone’s eyes to the photo. The landscape should be the focus, but the foreground interest adds to the photo, not dominates it.
- Composition: if your landscape has a road, is the car distracting from what the subject ought to be? Is the flower or bush too close? Are animals distracting from the landscape. Think about what is visible in the photo before and after shooting.
