Suzuki Australia has reopened orders for its automatic Jimny three-door. Despite back orders for the auto stretch as far as the second half of 2024, Suzuki Australia has secured additional production slots allowing for orders to reopen. Suzuki Australia paused new orders in January and reopened them in September for the supply-constrained automatic off-roader, but all 500 available vehicles were snapped up in under five hours. The Jimny is offered with the choice of a manual or automatic transmission. When it first launched the manual was more popular but as time went on the sales split shifted to the automatic – hence orders for the latter being paused in the face of rampant demand. The three-door Jimny enters 2024 unchanged, though it's being joined by a longer five-door version called the Jimny XL for which pricing and specifications were announced this week. To the end of November, Suzuki has sold 4673 Jimnys in Australia. That means, despite supply issues, it's still the brand's second best-seller, behind only the Swift (6486 sales). All prices are excluding on-road costs. The 2024 Suzuki Jimny is available exclusively with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 75kW of power and 130Nm of torque. It's mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, with a four-wheel drive system featuring selectable low-range gearing. The 2024 Suzuki Jimny uses 6.4L/100km on the combined cycle with the manual or 6.9L/100km with the auto. It has a 40L fuel tank and runs on 91RON regular unleaded fuel. The 2024 Suzuki Jimny three-door measures 3645mm long, 1720mm tall, 1645mm wide and has a 2250mm wheelbase. The Suzuki Jimny's total luggage space is 85L, increasing to 377L with the rear seats folded. The Suzuki Jimny is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. Suzuki offers capped-price servicing for the first five years or 100,000km, whichever comes first, with servicing required every 12 months or 15,000km. The first five services are capped at $449, $429, $589, $449 and $349, respectively. The Suzuki Jimny received a three-star ANCAP rating based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2018. That rating was based on an adult occupant protection score of 73 per cent, child occupant protection score of 84 per cent, vulnerable road user protection score of 52 per cent and a safety assist score of 50 per cent.
