Andrew McAvoy, who films and uploads videos of his bike rides to Youtube, and two others were on a trail ride at Balmoral Estate in Scotland when they happened upon the monarch.
They had passed Range Rovers and guards with guns before running into the 74-year-old walking alone along the trail, wearing a flat cap and carrying a walking stick.
In the video the group make small talk with Charles who describes the gloomy weather as "typical" and notes the "midges are horrendous".
"So you've been left to walk and everyone has left?" one of the riders asks him.
"I have, but I like my walking ... I want to see a few things on the way," the monarch replies.
The riders tell King Charles they are staying at accommodation on the grounds and he says he hopes it works well, having had it renovated recently.
As he leaves to continue his walk Charles jokes with the riders saying, "take care, don't fall off".
