To 8pm last night there were 89 local cases of COVID-19 recorded in NSW, with no new cases recorded in the Hawkesbury, according to the NSW Health website.
Twenty-one of those cases of community transmission across NSW were in the community while infectious and, according to NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, "That's the number we need to get down to as close to zero as possible."
At this morning's press conference, Ms Berejiklian said about three-quarters of the new cases were "close family contacts".
"The other area of concern is people who do need to leave home for work," she said.
She said the key message was to "stay home, do not leave home unless you absolutely have to".
She thanked "the overwhelming majority of citizens" for doing the right thing and staying home.
"We are in this together", she said.
She warned that one day of a falling number of cases was not a trend, and that she expected numbers to continue to bounce around.
She said leaving the lockdown was dependent on "us all doing the right thing at all times".
Sadly, a man in his seventies with COVID-19 passed away in the eastern suburbs.
NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said: "This is still too many people in the community who are infectious".
She reiterated that people should not visit family members in other households.
She said any time anyone leaves the house, they should assume everyone around them has COVID-19. When shopping, they should wear a mask, "shop purposefully", and don't socialise while shopping.
NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said there were 121 COVID-related Penalty Infringement Notices issues in NSW during the last 24 hours.
Ms Berejiklian flagged that she would make an announcement about the lockdown tomorrow.
