With the promise of unlimited rides and Dagwood Dogs that will knock off your socks, the coming Hawkesbury Fun Fair is sure to put a smile on many a dial.
The fair will set up camp at Hawkesbury Showground for two weekends - from Friday, July 2 to Sunday, July 4 and from Friday, July 9 to Sunday, July 11.
The event will offer food trucks, an animal nursery, showbags, face-painting and of course a bunch of cool rides.
Each day the fair will open from 10am to 7pm, split into two sessions - 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 7pm.
A pre-purchased unlimited ride armband will cost $30 per person, or $35 at the gates.
The ride list includes: ferris wheel, dodgem cars, bungee trampolines, round-up, teacups, windjammer, kanga bounce, sizzler, cartoon train, mini pirate ship, mini golf and inflatable world.
The fair is the brainchild of two couples with a passion for presenting entertainment the entire family can enjoy.
"We love western Sydney and the families running the events live quite close by," said one of the organisers Jade Evans. "It's a great community.
"As the days get colder it's harder to find things to do outdoors with the kids. Our Hawkesbury Fun Fair will be a great family day out. There's so much to do, and with the unlimited ride armband it's excellent value."
Fellow organiser, Josh Evans, has a family connection with fairs. His grandparents were responsible for bringing the recipe for the Dagwood Dog to Australia.
"My grandparents first saw the Dagwood Dog - or Pluto Pup as some people call it - at a fair in America and introduced it to Australia on their return," he said.
"They were responsible for bringing the first ever food trucks to Australia back in the 1930s - long before food trucks became trendy.
"We're still using the original recipe today at our events - you won't find frozen mass produced Dagwood Dogs at our family fun stall. And this year, for the first time, we're also doing a new fun twist on the original Dagwood Dog with Dagwood Dog Sushi. It will be a case of hold the soy and wasabi and pass the sauce and mustard."
The Fun Fair will run with Covid safety policies in place, including social distancing, wiping down rides frequently and customer numbers monitored by Covid marshalls and the event team. Sanitiser stations will be on-site and contactless digital sign-in with Service NSW will be available.
"We've been operating this way since September last year, so are well aware of what's needed to keep everyone safe," said Jade.
Hawkesbury Showground is located on Racecourse Road, Clarendon.
