Former Boomers coach and three-time NBL title winner Andrej Lemanis will leave his post at Brisbane at the end of the season to coach in Japan.
Lemanis, who coached the Boomers for seven years and won three NBL crowns with the New Zealand Breakers, announced on Wednesday the 2021 season would be his last after five years at the Bullets.
The club had been in discussions with Lemanis since January and is already in the process of replacing him.
"I'm proud of what we have been able to achieve over the past five seasons," Lemanis said.
"Every journey has an expiry date and so it is time for me, and my family, to take on new experiences and challenges.
"As with everything, we haven't always got it right, but I am proud of the fact that we have always worked to a set of core values.
"Given the short off season, it is important that the club can get in the market and appoint the new head coach in time for the free agency period, hence the timing of this announcement."
The Bullets were last in their first two seasons back in the NBL before fourth and fifth-placed finishes and are currently sixth and just within reach of another finals appearance.
The Boomers finished fourth at the Rio Olympics and China's 2019 World Cup under Lemanis, both times missing maiden international medals in devastating circumstances.
