Hark back to wartime Australia with ANZAC-themed concerts at the Richmond School of Arts

Hark back to wartime Australia with two brand new performances at the historic Richmond School of Arts (RSOA) for ANZAC Day.

BelleKat Productions is returning to the RSOA with the Kit Kat Club Cabaret's 'Bombshells!' show, a wartime romp over three dates from April 16 to 18 at 8pm.

Produced by local singing teacher Meera Belle and local dance principal Katrina Pritchard Stutz, the cabaret will feature all local singers and dancers performing in the RSOA's Ron Rozzoli Auditorium.

Ms Belle said the performance provided the perfect opportunity for the community to support both local arts and the historic venue.

"The Hawkesbury doesn't realise what a gem that theatre space is and how it is in very real danger of irreparable decline if the community itself doesn't get behind it," Ms Belle said.

Also being presented for ANZAC Day is the RSOA's first foray into producing its own event, the 'Regent St Big Band ANZAC Concert', with local singers Ms Belle and Jimmy Zappa, which will be performed on Sunday, April 25 at 2pm and 5pm.

"The ANZAC concert is especially important not just because we lost the opportunity to commemorate last year but also because big bands are so very rare these days and this particular band is highly prized. They sell out regularly in the city and so having them here is just terrific," said Ms Belle.

"We wanted to give people the chance to hear them, it is the first venture the RSOA has produced itself and the RSOA is looking to lift its profile as a community venue and event provider."
