A 37-year-old pregnant woman in labour had to be airlifted to Nepean Hospital today [Monday, March 22] after floodwater prevented her making the trek by road.
The woman was being transported by ambulance when flooding from the Nepean River prevented their crossing.
CareFlight's Rapid Response helicopter was called in at around 3.50pm, landing at around 4.10pm on Beaumont Avenue, North Richmond.
NSW Ambulance paramedics handed over the patient to CareFlight's specialist doctor and a NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic, who performed a clinical assessment on the woman.
She was then flown to the hospital in a stable condition.
