McGrath's Hill resident Cameron Whittle, a 28-year-old dad and tradie, will feature on Channel 7's new television program Ultimate Tag.
Mr Whittle, who grew up in the Hills district, said it was exciting to be involved in the program, which sees everyday Australians playing a new form of the well-known game tag against superhero 'Pro Taggers'.
The Pros include some of the world's renowned parkour stars, sports champions, sprinters, gymnasts and martial arts pros determined to give whatever it takes to win.
Australians from all walks of life must run, spin, dodge, tumble and dive their way around huge obstacle courses in the Ultimate Tag arena, with every course and run getting more intense and challenging.
The courses - Survival Tag, Gravity Tag, Revenge Tag, The Wall, Stealth Tag, Dodge Tag, The Alley and The Vortex - are all designed to push Pro Taggers and Players to their absolute limits.
The last standing male and female will get $100,000 prize money as well as the title of Australia's first Ultimate Tag Champion.
Mr Whittle, a carpenter and family man with a nine-month-old son, said he might be weedy, but he's fast, which got him the nickname of Road Runner from his mother-in-law.
He said the biggest challenge of the show was being outside his comfort zone.
"A lot of the Pro Taggers have a parkour background, and I'd never done parkour before, so I was second-guessing myself but it was a lot of fun," Cameron told the Gazette.
"I like to challenge myself. I fell in love with Ninja Warrior [on Channel 9] and followed it so I thought I'd have a crack at this and see what happens."
He said it will be his television debut, and it was "very nerve-wracking going out in front of the crowd" to film the challenges.
"Having my wife and son and my family, and the rest of my 'Orange Army' - wearing fluoro orange to support me - helped calm me down and get in the mode," Cameron said.
"Having them all there to cheer me on was an amazing experience of the show, a highlight for me."
Cameron called himself "an everyday tradie having a crack" but said if he wanted to "motivate someone else to get outside their comfort zone and try things, you never know what will happen."
He said the show is "new and exciting - something the Australian public hasn't seen before."
Matt Shirvington and Abbey Gelmi will host the show, with commentary by Bill Woods.
Ultimate Tag will begin Sunday, March 7 at 7pm, on Channel 7.
