Police have located and charged a man who allegedly escaped from a minimum-security correctional facility in Glen Innes last year.
Officers from New England Police District commenced an investigation after the man was reported missing from the facility on Gwydir Highway about 12pm on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Hawksbury Police Area Command, assisted by the Dog Unit, attended a home on New Street, Windsor, about 5am on Monday, January 11, where they arrested the 44-year-old man who was allegedly attempting to flee out the back of the house.
The man was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station where two outstanding warrants were executed for inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody and steal motor vehicle.
He was refused bail and appeared in Penrith Local Court on Monday, January 11.
