Six Tasmanian public servants stood down since December 4 for alleged sexual misconduct

The allegation has been referred to Tasmania Police.

A state government spokesperson said there would be no further comment on the matter while the investigation was active.

There have been six state service employees stood down from work for either historic sexual abuse or sexual misconduct allegations in just over a month.

A Northern public servant was stood down from work on December 4 due to a historic child sexual abuse allegation identified under a claim to the National Redress Scheme.

A second Northern state service employee was stood down from work on December 10 due to an sexual abuse allegation.

A third public servant, again from the North, was stood down while an allegation of sexual misconduct was investigated on December 14.

A fourth Northern public servant was stood down two days later pending an investigation into an allegation of potential sexual abuse.

A fifth Northern public servant was stood down from work on December 23 for alleged sexual misconduct.

It is unclear which agencies each of the individuals worked in.
