The latest exhibition at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery is likely to appeal to those with an appetite for interesting art.
Open to the public from today [Saturday, December 5], Eat Art explores the universal aspect of human existence - food and its influence on our daily lives and imaginations.
The works explore the notion that what and how we eat relfects contemporary life, just as "national" eating habits can represent cultures.
The depiction and recreation of food in art takes it beyond being a biological necessity.
In Eat Art the symbolic dimensions are revealed, stimulating not just a craving for food, but for ideas, for creativity and the potential for creating change towards a more thoughtful and somewhat more delicious future.
Artists featured in the exhibition include Marian Abboud, Cath Barcan, Mechelle Bounpraseuth, Lucy Culliton, Phil Ferguson, Chrissy Flanagan, Kenny Pittock, Ben Tankard, Dawn Tan, Jason Wing.
The exhibition will be on display until January 31.
The gallery is located within the Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor, open 10am to 4pm weekdays (closed Tuesdays), and 10am to 3pm on weekends.
