Following on from the success of last year's event, The Secret Garden and Nursery is planning to host its second combined Scarecrow Festival and Christmas Fair.
The special event will run from 9am to 2pm on December 5, in the nursery grounds, located at Clydesdale Lane within Western Sydney University, Richmond.
In the past the Scarecrow Festival was a much-loved annual community event held in Kurrajong.
Unfortunately, the tradition died out in 2012. That was until The Secret Garden and Nursery brought it back to life last year.
A centrepiece of the festival is of course the scarecrow competition, where folk are called on to create the fanciest looking scarecrow.
The competition has several categories: schools (day care through to high school), disability organisations, aged care facilities, business, and independent/individuals.
Entry into the competition is $20 per scarecrow. For an information pack on scarecrow entry requirements, email events@nwds.org.au
The fair will run in conjunction with the festival and will include market and foods stalls, train rides, Devonshire teas, wood-fired pizza, barbecued foods, farmyard animals for the kids, live music and hundreds of delightful plants for sale.
Entry to the venue on the day will be $2 per person, with children under five, free.
The Secret Garden and Nursery is registered COVID safe and follows all relevant safety requirements.
