In what the club described as a season like no other, the Hawkesbury Saints Under 11 AFL squad made it memorable for all the right reasons.
The side posted an inspirational come-from-behind grand final win against a spirited Blacktown side on September 27 at Charles McLaughlin Reserve, Baulkham Hills.
The Blacktown side played a tough and physical brand of footy from the onset and claimed an early lead.
In fact, the lead was maintained until the fourth quarter.
The gutsy Saints took to the park with renewed focus and a determination that the Blacktown side could not match.
The Saints took the lead with just three minutes remaining in the match.
The final score was 38-35.
One of the club officials who was at the match was quoted saying: "it was one of the most memorable games of junior sport I have witnessed. Well done boys."
The Under 11s side was coached by Bryson McMillan and managed by Adrian Woodbury.
The playing group included: Nikola Susnjara, Chayse Hollows, Blake Floyd, Jonathan Torney, Brodie Jones, Jack Woodbury, Evan McBurney, Harrison Tolar, Logan Cauz, Cooper Sansom, Callum Harvey, Daniel Fewtrell, Tyler Evans and Luke McMillen.
Taking out the team trophy for best and fairest was Brodie Jones. Joint runners up were Jack Woodbury and Evan McBurney.
