Over the coming weeks, we will be profiling key staff members at Hawkesbury Police Area Command (PAC).
We're kicking off with Senior Constable Geoff Goldsmith, who performs general duties and is also a Bicycle Control Constable.
"I am normally out and about interacting with members of the community," Snr Cst Goldsmith said.
"We are a very tight command but I often work with Snr Cst Collins on the Bicycle Squad.
"I also spend a lot of time liaising with other community organisations such as Wentworth Housing or DCS [Department of Community Services]."
He said police work is "a significant challenge" day in and day out, as "you never know from one shift to the next what situations you may be confronted with".
"Who would have thought, this time last year, that we would have spent significant time on hotel quarantines and border closures!" Snr Cst Goldsmith said.
"Hawkesbury PAC is unique, however, amongst metropolitan Area Commands in that we cover such a large area of very different demographics, from rural properties to medium density housing."
He said the jobs he found the most rewarding were the ones where he was involved in making a "positive difference" to a situation.
"This can be as simple as solving incidents of minor damage or anti-social behaviour or it can relate to incidents of serious criminality," Snr Cst Goldsmith said.
"I think it is important that we treat them all with professionalism."
