In the event of an emergency, just how prepared are you to take action to keep yourself and your loved ones out of harms way?
That's one of the questions Hawkesbury Council wants residents to ask themselves on the eve of Emergency Preparedness week, August 31 to September 6.
The key message for residents is to be prepared.
The week is an initiative of the Red Cross and Resilient Sydney, of which Hawkesbury is a member council.
Throughout the week council will promote a special Get Prepared App, which aims to help Hawkesbury residents develop their own personal emergency plans.
The app is available at getprepared.app.link/Hawkesbury_City_Council.
It is a free and easy to use, one-stop tool to help you prepare for any type of emergency. With its assistance you can:
- establish a quick and easy network of support with your three key contacts;
- review the risks relevant to where you live;
- create checklists of actions to make an emergency plan;
- save the emergency plan as a PDF to be printed and shared with others.
In support of the week, council has set up a page on its community engagement website Your Hawkesbury Your Say [www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au] with handy information about emergency preparation.
