The Hawkesbury Jets flew back into the Hangar this past weekend, playing their first home game of the 2020 representative season.
The Youth League Men's team faced the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday, August 2 in round three of the Spalding Waratah League.
It was a strange look at the stadium for the young men, with a total of 15 spectators allowed to watch.
It was a see-sawing affair early on as both teams traded the lead and were tied heading into the final quarter, where the Hawks took control over the undermanned Jets, and ran out to a 99-83 win.
Cameron McMillan led the Jets with an outstanding game, posting 43 points on an incredible shooting night, and backed that up with a huge rebounding tally.
Michael Wilkins put up 10 of his own, as Patrick O'Toole and Jonathan Pres each added eight.
The all-round court game of rookie guard Nav Singh impressed, as he showed speed and a court presence that belied his limited experience of representative basketball.
Despite only scoring five points his ability to control Hawkesbury's offence was instrumental to many of the teams baskets.
The Jet's junior teams will start their shortened campaigns over the next two weeks with Under 12's, 14's and 16's boys and girls, and the Under 18's boys, all playing in the Spalding Waratah Junior Leagues.
Hawkesbury will also see their Under 19's and Open Women's teams playing in the Barrangarry Conference competition later this year.
Unfortunately, the flagship Spalding Waratah Men's team will not take the court as the competition was cancelled.
