Preliminary work to remove the old Windsor Bridge will begin in August said spokesperson for Transport NSW.
Work on the water mains at the site uncovered a remnant section of the brick barrel drain, leading Transport for NSW to redesigned the new water mains to ensure that the remnant section was left in place.
"Removal of the Bridge is expected to take three months, weather permitting," said the spokesperson.
"Freemans Reach Road is expected to open to motorists in September.
"Due to unexpected ground conditions and recent wet weather, significant work is needed to raise the road level to connect it into the new roundabout on Wilberforce Road."
The third lane on Windsor Bridge will be opened to motorists once the traffic lights at the intersection of Bridge and George Street are operational later this year.
