Local club excited for first ever women's team to make home debut

The Hawkesbury Hawks are excited for the future of women's rugby in the area said club Secretary Kathy Milson.

Hawkesbury Hawks Junior Rugby League Club are entering it's third round of competition this week which is set to include it's first ever women's team home debut.

"We are excited to keep the season going ahead as the clubs first ever women's team will be playing this season," said Kathy.

"We are very excited for this ... on August 1 they will play at Turnbull for the first time, which is going to be great."

Last week the Under 16's women's side were to face Brothers in their season opener but the opposition forfeited.

The forfeit makes this weekend the real kickoff to their season.

The Hawkesbury Hawks women's side will face St Mary's this Saturday, August 1 at Turnbull Oval, North Richmond at 3pm.
