Only 250 vehicles will be allowed to enter Falls Creek resort each day ahead of the official start to the ski season, under a strict COVID-19 capacity limit.

Season pass holders and those with overnight accommodation booked are not included in the 250-car limit but must register their trip ahead of time.

In a letter to customers and stakeholders, Falls Creek Resort Management chief executive Stuart Smythe said from June 6 to June 22 - the official start of the delayed ski season - the resort management team would release 250 day passes per day for vehicles.

Everyone visiting the resort must register their name and those of people in their car to ensure contract tracing is possible if an outbreak occurs.

A Falls Creek spokeswoman said limitations would still be in place after June 22, but it's too early to know what they might be.

She said they were awaiting government advice on how many people could gather at the resort post June 22, but they were hopeful more people would be allowed.

Falls Creek lifts will be running from June 24.

"We are preparing for a very different start to the 2020 snow season but working tirelessly to provide the best experience possible within the new norm," Mr Smythe said.
