Hawkesbury's Karu Distillery, spent the past week supplying as much high proof spirit to be used as a sanitiser as they could to essential services such as charities, police and food services.
Owners, Nick and Ally Ayers, wanted to help out any way they could.
"We saw people in the hospitality idustry were working but couldn't get high alcohol sanitiser to wash their hands," said Nick.
"We don't know how to make hand sanitiser but we know how to make alcohol.
"So, we supply the materials for people to make their own.
"We worked with the taxation office and an analytics company to quickly get it all out there at our own cost, donated to everyone we could.
"Anyone who has been in need, who is out of regular supplies and couldn't get more in."
The distillery supplied sanitiser to charities, the police, a Councillor (who helped distribute), small businesses and hospitality/food services.
They felt there was a gap in the market that they could briefly fill in the local area. "We're almost out," Nick said. "We've given out around 100 litres or so, away.
"We are a very small business ... and this was just to help our community."
