Hawkesbury shoppers experience random acts of kindness

Random acts of kindness are playing out across the Hawkesbury as new national restrictions imposed on Monday attempt to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Gazette put the call out on Facebook to see what 'little kindnesses' were happening in our community through the chaos of the virus pandemic.

Rhiannon Crittenden shared a story about a shopping trip which ended up with a couple helping her foot the bill.

"Last week at Coles in Windsor, a lovely couple told me to put my money away because they were going to pay for my shop that came to about $70! We all cried happy tears together including the checkout lady," Ms Crittenden said.

"I will [be] forever thankful for that beautiful couple who didn't know me or my life!"

Another Facebook user, Tracey Price, replied: "Hi that was me the checkout lady I still think about that every day it made my day hope you are well."

Cheryl Hunt was the recipient of a kind act in Woolworths Windsor.

"I saw two packets of rice at the very back of a top shelf. I couldn't reach it. A lady on crutches lent me a crutch and I hooked the packets down. I didn't take both I offered it to the people watching. The lady who lent me the crutch took it. People working together!" she said.

Elisabeth Ferid had a positive experience of grocery-sharing in Costco.

"[I was standing] with my packets of loo paper and paper towels (one of each) and a chap beside me had the same. He said to me "a nice young man came past and dropped these in my trolley and said "have a nice day" and took off. I don't need them so am waiting for an elderly person to come by to pass them on". What lovely, kindly men; both of them."
