Taylor Thompson from Lower Portland has taken further steps forward in her young motocross career.
The 14-year-old is currently ranked number two in Australia for the 85cc and 125cc female classes.
After a number of successful years racing across the country Taylor has been provided with the opportunity to go even further in the sport.
"She has always been attracted to motorbikes," said Taylor's mum Deanne.
"We live in Lower Portland so she's just always been around it ... she's just always loved it."
In the past two years Taylor has been awarded the NSW title for the best female rider at the King of MX.
She continues to push herself in the sport, regularly competing and achieving great results, which has led to her recent selection to Go Girl Racing Australia (GGRA)
Taylor is one of just six junior female motocross riders who have been selected from across the nation to join and represent the Go Girl Racing Australia Motocross Team in 2020.
The team's riders consist of New South Wales' Taylor and 12-year-old Rayne Alefosio, Queensland's 14-year-old Charli Cannon, 11-year-old Hayley Ball and eight-year-old Brooke Ball, and South Australia's 15-year-old Aimee Butler.
GGRA supports the growth and development of the nation's top female riders in motocross and provides opportunities for up-and-coming female athletes to compete not only around Australia but also internationally.
Taylor is currently training with the team as part of their progressive coaching initiative alongside coach Greg Moss.
She will continue this training regime in the lead up to heading to compete in New Zealand in January 2020.
The team will be competing at the King of the Mountain in the Taranaki and Woodville GP Oceania Challenge.
Each Australian rider will be pitted against a New Zealand competitor and from there the points will be calculated to determine the cup winners.
In 2019 Australia won the Oceania challenge by one point. Hopes are high this will be replicated in 2020 with a strong Junior female team.
Prior to racing in Woodville, the GGRA Team will be participating in and promoting a two day coaching clinic at Taranaki Club.
The clinic is aimed at increasing the engagement of New Zealand female motocross riders and providing an opportunity for all riders to train with some of Australia's top junior female riders.
A Go Girl Racing Australia spokesman said Taylor Thompson's selection was based on many factors including performance, consistency and dedication to supporting growth and development, but most importantly sportsmanship.
