A community meeting will be held at Colo Heights tomorrow (Wednesday, November 20) for residents to be updated on the bushfire situation.
The meeting is set to take place from 8pm at Colo Heights Rural Fire Brigade Station.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) issued a statement today (Tuesday) saying the Gospers Mountain fire was burning out of control in the Wollemi and Yengo National Parks, and Parr State Recreation areas, and was more than 138,000 hectares in size.
The fire has destroyed a home at Colo Heights.
"Fire activity is increasing on the western side of the fire, towards Colo Heights," the RFS stated.
"Conditions are expected to worsen today with high temperatures. This will place pressure on containment lines.
"Firefighters have been carrying out backburning operations close to properties in an effort to contain the fire. These operations have taken place in the areas around Wisemans Ferry, Webb Creek, Grey Gums and Yengo Drive."
Colo Heights Public School, Macdonald Valley Public School and Wisemans Ferry Public School remained closed today due to bushfire related conditions.
"If you are in the areas of Colo Heights, Higher MacDonald, Webbs Creek and Yengo Drive (Putty), activate your bush fire survival plan and monitor conditions," the RFS advised.
"Know what you will do if the fire threatens."
Putty Road remains closed from Colo Heights to Milbrodale due to ongoing operations in the area and Bicentenary Road is closed between Lower Portland and Webb's Creek while the assessment of dangerous trees is undertaken.
