Molineux hopes to be part of MCG history

The Australian allrounder hopes to be on the other side of the fence for the T20 World Cup final on March 8, when tournament organisers have enlisted music star Katy Perry for the pre-game entertainment as part of a world record attempt.

The final will be held on international women's day and the goal is to draw the biggest crowd in women's sport history, eclipsing the 90,185 fans who watched the 1999 soccer World Cup final in California.

Molineux has seen her Magpies beat Essendon on Anzac Day and wants to experience that atmosphere as a player.

"Those goosebumps you get when 95,000-plus people are silent - just to be a part of that was incredible,"' she said.

"The MCG is a pretty special place for Australia and world sport. I'm a Collingwood fan, most of the time we pack it out.

"It's pretty special just being in the crowd and watching sporting events. To be out there in the middle would be next-level. It would be pretty special."

Molineux was at the MCG on Wednesday morning as organisers marked 100 days to the start of the World Cup, where Australia will be defending champions.

"Every now and again you think 'there's a World Cup coming up'. Today highlights it and really makes it exciting, makes it feel real," she said.

Molineux will be a key player for Australia and she is regaining touch after a frustrating run with injury.

She needed a shoulder reconstruction earlier this year after a fielding mishap at training and has been in and out of the side since.

"I just thought I could go like a bull at a gate and get it all ticked off pretty quick," Molineux said of her recovery.

"I felt like the harder I went, the more setbacks I had. It was the whole patience game that I had to learn."

If things don't go to plan at the World Cup, Molineux joked she also has a back-up plan to be part of Perry's entertainment at the final.

"I'm just going to sort out the application process to be a back-up dancer, hopefully," she said.
