Hawkesbury Race Club are ready for their annual Ladies Day event

The 2019 Lander Toyota Ladies Day at Hawkesbury Race club will be running this Thursday, November 7 (tomorrow).

It has become the go-to event of Hawkesbury's Spring Racing season, as it is held on the same day as Kennedy Oaks Day at Flemington racecourse.

With more than $405,000 in prize money, highlighted by the listed Lander Toyota Ladies Day Cup over 1600 meters, Ladies Day continues to feature some of Australia's best trainers, jockeys and horses.

Off the track there will be many exciting activations and hospitality offerings for the days attendees.

They will be led by the eagerly anticipated Fashions on the Field which will once again give trackside fashionistas the chance to showcase their unique Spring racing style.

Joining Fashions on the Field festivities will be; One Of Three Boutique pop up store, Kerastase Luxury Hair Australia and Skin Fitness in Richmond pop up salons.

Along with food trucks, pop up bars and live music that will further enhance the colorful atmosphere.

The day will be headlined by the Matt Jones Band.

Matt Jones is a young musician that is regarded as a superb guitar player, powerful vocalist, and masterful entertainer that brings an already impressive long history of live performances to every show.

Jacinta and Andy, a well- known duo as seen at many Hawkesbury Race Club feature race days, are set to welcome race goers as they perform at the main gates.

Ladies day at Hawkesbury is one of the most unique racing and social events on the calendar.

This year the races will be run as a twilight event with gates opening at noon on Thursday and the first race set to jump at 2.05pm. The eight-race program is set to conclude at 6.10pm.

General admission for adults will be $20 and children under 18-years will be free and must be accompanied by an adult.

There will also be free general admission offered for members of Richmond Club, Blacktown Workers Club and TAB Rewards.

Hawkesbury Race Club is excited for the annual event and welcomes everyone to one of the clubs biggest race days of the year and thanks the sponsors and patrons for their support of the club.

In other racing news, Hawkesbury's premier trainer Brad Widdup had a successful weekend at Rosehill in the closely competed three-year-old and up, BM88, Handicap (1100m).

Widdups four-year-old stallion, and first ever winner back in 2018, Sandbar, ridden by Hawkesbury Jockey Christian Reith, edged out a great victory.

Sandbar managed to just hold the lead over his stablemate, five-year-old gelding Junglized, to win by 0.3 of a length.

Joining the Widdup duo in the top three was another five-year-old gelding from the Hawkesbury.

Beau Ideal, trained by James Cummings at Agnes Banks, was just behind Junglized by 0.1 of a length to snag his first place of the 2018-19 season.

The 2019 Lander Toyota Ladies Day at Hawkesbury Race Club will be on Thursday, October 7 from 2:10pm, with gates opening at noon for access to the off track activities.

Fashions on the Field

The Lander Toyota Ladies Day Fashions on the Field will run once again at Hawkesbury Race Club as attendees will have the opportunity to showcase their individual Spring racing styles.

The competition will feature four categories including Best Dressed Contemporary Lady, Best Dressed Classic Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman.

There will be close to $8,000 worth of prizes for first and runner up in both categories, plus an additional award for overall Best Millinery selected from the contestants from both ladies categories.

Some of the prizes that will feature for the winners include; a travel voucher from Flight Centre Cruise, 'Stylish Shopper' personal styling and shopping experience with Kash O'Hara (The Style Doctor), products from Skin Fitness, One Of Three Boutique Millinery voucher from Carole Maher -The Sydney Millinery Co., an Easy Lane voucher, a bottle of Mumm, Swarovski Cuff and a Swarovski Pen and charm, Swarovski Pen and Charm.

The runner ups will receive; a Skin Fitness Voucher, a gift pack from Kerastase Luxury Hair Australia, a One Of Three Boutique Voucher, an Easy Lane Voucher, a Bottle of Mumm and a Swarovski Pen and Charm.

Fashions on the field will see seasoned racewear fashion judges Emma Barbagallo, Carole Maher and The Style Doctor Kash O'Hara pick the 'Best Dressed' of each category.

Registration for the competition will be held at the main lawn entrance between 12pm to 2pm, where each contestant will receive their number.

Contestants are asked to be ready at the main stage, trackside, at 2:30pm.

Judging is set to start at 2:45pm (just after race two) and will conclude at 3:15pm.

Judging criteria will see the judges consider multiple things, such as; the original style, balanced look; season appropriate fabrics, millinery and accessories; overall presentation, personality and flair; and adaptation of racewear fashion trends.

Entrants must be 18 years and over and the judges' decision is final.

Racing NSW Representative, Julieanne Horsman, will emcee the event.
