Vision GymSports will be sending a Free G (parkour) team to Queensland On Thursday, September 12 to compete in the National Clubs competition.
This is the club's first team to be sent interstate to compete, with eight athletes travelling to the 18-day festival of gymnastics and running at the Gold Coast.
The event is set to attract nearly 5000 competitors from all across the country with the top free runners, gymnasts and parkour athletes participating in various events. It is the largest event run by Gymnastics Australia.
"We are really proud to be sending our first team ... interstate," said Vision GymSports General Manager Deon Ellison.
"We just won a competition a few weeks ago, so we are hoping to do well.
"We're getting a lot stronger and building a lot more.
"It's good that the kids are going to a controlled environment. We are lucky since we have the right tools to teach them. It's a lot safer than places without the right equipment."
The vision team will be competing in Free G, which is a fusion of traditional gymnastics and acrobatic tricks.
It also includes kicks and leaps made famous through martial arts, festival performances and stunt actors.
The concept is to get from A to B in either a speed run, doing the course as quickly as possible, or as a freestyle, adding in the best skills, jumps and moves that the athletes can produce.
