Fans of PG Wodehouse won't want to miss the latest production by Richmond Players, a take on the hilarious Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.
The limited season will kick off at the Richmond School of Arts on Saturday [August 10] will performances at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Subsequent performances will be held on August 17 and 24 at the same times.
The piece kicks off during a weekend at a country house.
When things take a turn for the worse, Bertie Wooster is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker - reconciling the affections of his host's daughter Madeline Bassett with his newt-fancying acquaintance Gussie Fink-Nottle.
If Bertie, ably assisted by the ever-dependable Jeeves, can't pull off the wedding of the season, he'll be forced to abandon his cherished bachelor status and marry the ghastly girl himself.
Written by David and Robert Goodale and based on Woodhouse's 1938 novel The Code of the Woodsters, the stage show is also the winner of the 2014 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
Director Kylie Lowe said the humour in Jeeves and Wooster would appeal to people of all ages.
"To me, there is no greater humorist in the English language than PG Wodehouse, who wrote more than 100 novels," she said.
"What is particularly special about the show is that there are 12 characters played by only three actors.
"You can imagine the chaos that ensues as a result of rapid costume changes and the cast playing multiple characters at the same time!"
Joel Baltaks of North Richmond plays Bertie Wooster. He said he was excited at the prospect of playing Wooster on stage after being such a fan of Hugh Laurie's version of the character in the television show.
"I've always really enjoyed British comedy and he's such a fun character," Joel said. "Very innocent and well-spoken and goofy.
"I've played a similar Hugh Laurie character in a Blackadder stage show and it was an absolute blast.
"I find it refreshing that the comedy is so light and frivolous, set in the upper class world where the problems all revolve around social faux pas. It's a wonderful play, well written and extremely funny, and I'm loving every minute."
Tickets cost $27.50 for adults and $20 for students/seniors and group bookings of 10 or more.
