A HUGE night of fun and fundraising for a good cause is planned at Bligh Park Tavern, with all-male entertainment group Untamed Fantasies set to hit the stage to raise money for the R U OK? campaign for suicide prevention.
RUOK is a suicide prevention charity in Australia, reminding people that having meaningful conversations with mates and loved ones could save lives.
Principal of Untamed Fantasies, Nelly Leopard - who grew up in the Hawkesbury and now lives in Queensland - said she was compelled to offer the services of her troupe for free for the fundraiser following personal experiences with depression.
"I was faced with three of my siblings silently facing deep depression, one leading to near suicide, my sister, but she woke up," Ms Leopard told the Gazette.
Ms Leopard's sister will be speaking on the night, along with other depression sufferers, to spread the word about the benefits of asking those around you, 'Are you OK?'
"I have a massive night ahead with survivors of depression," Ms Leopard said.
"I've been through a lot of depression myself in my past with my ex and domestic violence, and a lot of people around me have faced depression, including members of our Untamed Fantasies crew, who have suffered in silence and they've now been encouraged to speak out.
"You'd be surprised how many people who have mental illness don't speak up because they are afraid of what other people will think.
"We want to make a difference and be there together for everyone and ask them if they're OK."
Untamed Fantasies will play the Bligh Park Tavern on Friday, September 13, from 8.30pm until 11.30pm, with a free after party afterwards kicking on until 3am.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at bit.ly/2LUI1vq. All money raised through ticket sales and raffles will be donated to R U OK?
Raffle prizes include lash technician vouchers, party bus vouchers, and florist vouchers. If you or your business want to donate a prize, contact Ms Leopard on 0404 304 274.
"Untamed Fantasies, outrageously handsome guys all from Sydney have been storming up a new show for 2019," said the event page.
"A 3 hour non-stop exciting journey exploring the secret fantasies of women of all types. The charismatic troupe turns fantasy into reality with the blink of an eye."
Local florist Angels Florist South Windsor will be donating yellow roses for all attendees in recognition of the R U OK campaign, and Leopard Express Party Buses will be on hand to take punters home safely after the event.
