McGraths Hill's Emily Carrick took her place in artist alley over the weekend for the annual Supanova Comic Con and Gaming convention at Olympic Park.
It was her fourth straight year selling prints of her pop culture artworks.
Emily has been drawing her whole life and now tours the national Supanova circuit showcasing her wares to a welcoming audience.
She was one of many locals who made the trek to the convention over the weekend. Others took the chance to dress up for the occasion.
Emily, 24, said that it wasn't until after high school that she realised that illustration could be more than just a hobby for her.
"I've been drawing all of my life, it's just been one of the things I enjoy most," she said.
"After high school I went to Enmore Design College where I did a cert four, and after that I did an illustration course and realised it was more than something that I just loved. It's something I wanted to do with my life."
Emily said she enjoyed the Supanova experience.
"The first time I did it [Supanova] with my art collective," she said.
"We did it as six artists together as friends and I only had six paintings at the time, but it ended up being so much fun ... I was surrounded by pop culture and everyone was so lovely, and from there I started doing it by myself.
"The great thing about it, is that you get to go interstate. It brings a lot of outside work. I've gotten a lot of commissions from it. I've gotten illustration jobs. It just brings so many opportunities."
Speaking after the event, Emily said she had a blast.
"The weekend went so well," she said. "It usually does, especially Sydney. I would say Sydney's probably the best one ... I love selling my stuff, but it's more about meeting people."
"I always have repeat customers. I'll have people who I met three years ago, that have bought stuff from me every single year and they're like 'hey, can I get something else to put on my wall with the other prints that I've gotten from you?'."
Emily puts a lot of work into her pieces, creating original designs along with her takes on pop culture icons.
"It can take me anywhere from a day to a week to complete a piece," she said. "Depending on how intricate it is."
"I've got my own stuff. I like to paint animals. But its pretty much anything anyone wants me to paint I'm up for doing it."
"But I really love painting people, that's the thing I enjoy the most."
Emily's personal favourite from her work is her very detailed Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, which was one of the most popular pieces for her throughout the weekend.
Emily uses various styles to complete her work including ink, pencil and paint, but most of all she loves to use gouache.
"It's so much better than anything else," she said.
"I'm planning on doing Oz Comic Con next year. I have done some markets and I have done some art exhibitions in the city. These places are where I usually sell my work.
"I want to get back into doing my own stuff. I've been doing a lot of stuff for Supanova.
"I really want to do another exhibition either at the end of the year or next year."
