Business from Riverstone Village Shopping Centre came together on Friday, June 7 to put on a barbeque, raising money for local charities.
The Commonwealth Bank, IGA Supermarkets and Market Country Meats in the Village were giving out sausage sandwiches for dollar coin donations.
The money raised was going towards the Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre and Community Aid Service Inc., whose main goal is to work together to build a stronger community.
Along with raising money the businesses wanted to create connections with the community, reaching out and supporting them.
Although Commonwealth Bank and IGA have been at the village for some time, but Market Country Meats is a new store having only opened last month.
It is run by Riverstone locals Peter Stratchan, his wife Jenny and Steve Stratford.
"This is a great opportunity for us to connect with the community and help such an important local charity, who are supporting the community," said Peter.
"IGA supplied the utensils, napkins, bread. We supplied the meat and Commonwelth supplied people and helped to organise everything."
The barbeque raised $440 on the day all going to the Neighbourhood Centre to fund emergency relief to support local people beyond 2019.
