Pioneer Village Express Train to re-launch at Australiana Pioneer Village Country Fair

The Australiana Pioneer Village is holding its Village Country Fair this Sunday, May 26, and the community will have the chance to ride the Village Pioneer Express Train for the first time since its refurbishment.

From 10am until 4pm there will be markets and food, live music, tractor hay rides, antique machinery displays, and a prize for best-dressed (colonial style). Bring along a picnic as there will be wood and gas BBQs.

Punters can learn to crack a whip and hear all about the old craft of smelting, or watch Mini Back to Back - teams will be competing to Shear a Sheep, Spin the Wool and Knit a Child's Jumper.

Pioneer Village's Lesley George said it had taken "hundreds, if not thousands" of volunteer hours to get the Express Train ready to take the public again.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for school-age children (under 5 free), or $15 for a family pass. There is free parking inside the village.

Australiana Pioneer Village is at 10 Rose St, Wilberforce. Visit theapv.org.au/village for more information.
