One Giant Leap has been named a Small Business Champion at the 2019 Australian Small Business Champion Awards.
The South Windsor business - well known for its work leading Australian educational institutions on yearly STEM excursions to Space Camp in the USA - won the Educational Services category at the awards ceremony at The Star - Sydney on Saturday, April 6.
The business is headed up by directors Jackie and Bob Carpenter.
Mrs Carpenter said in her acceptance speech the company was registered in 2016 but really was created 11 years ago with her dream to create Space Camp in Australia.
"We are inspired by the Apollo space program which was built on the motto 'On your shoulders we stand'. It took 400,000 people to put 24 Men on the Moon. By coincidence, this year is the 50th Anniversary of the first man on the Moon. Little did I know 50 years ago that I would be here on stage, accepting an award for our company," she said.
"We have a philosophy of making the impossible possible and we do this by standing on the shoulders of each other. It truly does take a village to raise a child. We aim to raise up all Australians - to be the best we can be by working together."
The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is run by Precedent Productions and aims to encourage high standards of excellence in Australian small business practice.
