Snowy and Nellie Biddle were Kurrajong Nursing Home auxiliary members for over 50 years, and now the couple have shared their 53rd wedding anniversary with the nursing home staff members who have become like family over the years.
Activities coordinator Sandy Barratt said Nellie and Snowy had worked "tirelessly" on the auxiliary, until the time came for Snowy to become a resident at the nursing home in May 2018.
The Biddles celebrated their anniversary with friends and family coming to visit, and "reminisced with their favourite music and a slideshow of pictures and memories," said Ms Barratt.
Nellie said the couple met at school when they were 14 and formed a "boyfriend and girlfriend relationship".
"We separated after leaving school and went our separate ways. I married Jim Booth and had two sons then he was tragically killed in 1956. After ten years I married the man of my dreams and have lived happily ever after," Nellie told the anniversary gathering on March 19.
"It takes a special man to take on someone else's children and love them as your own. We had a daughter together in 1969. My life has been wonderful and I thank God everyday for Snowy."
The couple, both 84 this year, were married at St Stephen's Anglican Church Kurrajong in 1966. Nellie made her own wedding dress.
The church is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a community event on Sunday, April 7.
