A carer has been charged with illegally taking $300,000 from a legally blind disability pensioner.
A police statement said a 65-year-old woman had been caring for the blind 62-year-old woman who was on a disability pension between July 2014 and November 2017.
“Police will allege that the older woman had access to the younger woman’s financial affairs to assist with living and medical expenses,” the statement said.
“Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command were alerted to the alleged 350 fraudulent transactions that saw more than $300,000 withdrawn from the disabled woman’s accounts and commenced an investigation.”
Investigators from Hawkesbury Police Area Command attended a residence in Forster on Wednesday, October 24 and arrested a 65-year-old woman.
The woman was taken to Forster police station and charged with seven counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
The woman was granted conditional bail to appear before Windsor Local Court on Thursday, December 6.
