A dirt bike rider has airlifted to hospital suffering serious injuries following a crash at Lower Portland.
The 36-year-old man had crashed while riding on a property in the afternoon of Saturday, August 18, suffering serious injuries to the chest, a statement from the CareFlight medical helicopter stated.
“CareFlight’s specialist medical team provided surgery for a man at the scene where he was injured in an off-road motorcycle crash,” the statement said.
“CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked shortly before 4pm, landing near the scene.
“Bystanders let off a flare so CareFlight’s medical crew were able to locate them a short distance away into the property.
“CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic undertook a medical intervention and the man’s condition improved rapidly.
“NSW Ambulance road paramedics arrived shortly later and assisted the medical team get the man to the helicopter.”
The man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
