COMMUNITY Action for Windsor Bridge is here to stay according to its president Harry Terry, despite Roads and Maritime Services estimating the new bridge will start to be built in September.
Mr Terry appeared on the Hawkesbury Gazette podcast, and spoke about the future of the organisation, which opposes the Windsor Bridge Replacement project.
“When we’ve run out of information to pass onto the community [is when we will stop],” Mr Terry said on the podcast.
The state government has appointed a contractor to construct the new bridge and Mr Terry said CAWB would continue to question the RMS about the project.
In July, CAWB will celebrate its fifth year since they started their peaceful protest in Thompson Square.
It has certainly not been without controversy. Many applaud their actions, while many detest the tent, and claim the tent and its followers should be kicked out of Thompson Square.
“We register every six months with the local police and they give us permission if you like [to continue protesting],” Mr Terry said.
The protest will continue, Mr Terry said, because the organisation was of the opinion the replacement bridge was a lacklustre option for the Hawkesbury.
