OVER the past six months the kids from Milestones Early Learning Pitt Town (formerly known as Pitt Town Preschool) have been busy getting out and about in the community to learn the importance of connecting with others.
Preschool educator Karlee Bell said the project has “promoted community connectedness in our service and allowed for our children and families the opportunity to learn more about places in our community and how we can do simple things to help people in our community.”
Projects included a colour fundraising day for which all the money was donated to the Hawkesbury Hospital’s Children’s Ward.
“We collected boxes of perishable items that we donated to Hawkesbury Helping Hands, a local community organisation that helps those in need,” said Ms Bell.
“We donated children’s stories and colouring in equipment to all local shops, doctors and real estate agents.
“Over the last few months we collected many Easter baskets that we took on our visit to the Hawkesbury Living nursing home residents to enjoy along with our children singing some of their favourite Easter songs.”
The preschool is also in the process of organising for a local sports service to visit the children, to support them as they develop their gross motor skills.
Ms Bell said they hope to continue organising ways for the preschool to “become connected to our local community and services that are readily available for our families to access.”
