SHOWBAG stores were the first stop for many families at the Hawkesbury Show this year.
Lynnette from Showbag Carousel said confectionery offerings were the most popular over the weekend - including Cadbury, Freddo Frog and Caramello Koala - as were Warheads, Zappo and Fizzer bags.
She said in her experience, kids like anything sour in showbags: “You see some of the really little ones getting Warheads, and I’m like, ‘really?!’ We only do sour ones in the bags, not hot ones - I think that’d be a little too much for the little ones.”
Kids were also loving Monster 100 in 1, which included 100 lollies and a choice of soft toy.
For adults, Liquorice Lovers and Old Style Liquorice were popular, as was Cadbury Family Deal which included chocolates and a choice of either an esky, headphones, soccer ball, basketball, plush toy or slippers.
“A good ladies bag is the G-Squad. You get a yoga mat, socks, headband, bag, hair ties and hat,” Lynnette said.
“Younger kids like the novelty bags as well - LOL was our biggest with the girls. Boys liked PJ Masks and Paw Patrol.
“For the gamers, it’s Assassin’s Creed, Halo, Fast and Furious, and Doctor Who.”
Rebeka, who also sold showbags at the show, agreed sour confectionery bags were her most popular with young kids, including Jumbo Fizz, Wizz Fizz, TNT Sour Chew Balls and Sourblast.
“For girls, Kiss and Makeup, and Gloss and Glamour [are popular]. And for boys, Army Action or Army - anything with guns,” she said.
