MARAYLYA Public School is calling on ex-students and community members to share their memories and photographs of the school in anticipation of its 150th anniversary celebrations in November.

Principal Stewart Gaffey said the school will be hosting a celebratory event to mark the milestone, and will be putting together a special limited edition booklet containing memories of the school throughout the ages.
“We are keen to hear from any ex-students who might have any information, class photos (especially pre-1980s), stories, anecdotes, or memories of the times they’ve had at Maraylya Public School, or that pertain to the Maraylya local area,” Mr Gaffey said.
“You may even know where the elusive time capsule was placed in either 1968 for the 100th anniversary or 1993 for the 125th year.”
The original Maraylya Public School building was built in 1868, and the school was extended in 1975. One of the first school buildings from 1914 still remains on the site.
The 150th birthday celebrations are scheduled for November 2, and commemorative pavers ($50 each) are available to order at the school office up until Easter.
The pavers will be used to build a commemorative garden path, which will display the names of students, families and teachers - both past and present.
