- This is an update from a previous story headlined: Trespassing blamed for cancellation of two Richmond trains.
A PERSON was nearly hit by a train at Clarendon Station today according to Sydney Trains, who have cancelled a number of Richmond services today because the shaken driver needed to stop work.
The 11.04am from Central to Richmond had been cancelled today, as had the 12.41pm from Richmond to Central. The 3.34 from Central to Richmond has also been cancelled.
A further service from Central to Chatswood was also cancelled.
In a statement made to the Gazette a spokesperson said:
“A Sydney Trains driver was left shaken after a near hit incident at Clarendon Station earlier this morning. As a result, the driver was relieved from duties and the service cancelled.
“These incidents are very traumatic for our drivers and guards, whose safety and wellbeing is our priority.
“We’d like to apologise to customers impacted by the cancellation, but this was necessary to ensure our staff received the appropriate support.
“We also had to cancel an additional service due to unplanned crew changes at Auburn.”
Sydney Trains had earlier tweeted the services had been cancelled because of trespassing on the track.
