A 10-year-old boy has been shot during an attempted armed robbery at a home south of Brisbane.
The boy's father, a police dog and its handler were also treated for injuries suffered in the aftermath of what police were treating as an attempted armed robbery.
Police believe two men, one armed with a gun, entered a home in the Logan suburb of Browns Plains just before 8pm on Boxing Day.
The boy was shot in the shoulder during a fight at the Ammons Street residence and rushed to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a serious condition.
His 31-year-old father suffered an injury to the abdomen but a police spokeswoman said it was unclear if that was a gunshot wound or caused by another weapon.
As officers tried to track the two suspects, the family dog and a police dog got into a fight, with the Queensland Police Service canine bitten on the leg, a spokeswoman said.
The police dog suffered a torn leg muscle and the police handler suffered cuts as he tried to break the animals up.
Police are hunting the two men involved, and have appealed for anyone with dashcam footage of two men getting into a vehicle on Browns Plains Road, near Waller Road, in the westbound lanes.
