Australia's most famous movie home, The Castle house, is en route to Beechworth

The weatherboard made famous by the 1997 movie has been dismantled at its Melbourne block.

Beechworth businessman George Fendyk said it would be trucked in pieces to the North East over Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr Fendyk and his business partner Geoff Lucas plan to use the house as a manager’s residence at a caravan park at Mayday Hills.

They paid $40,000 for the building at an auction in July after an earlier plan to shift it to Corowa fell through.
