The identity security strike team, a multi-jurisdictional initiative between the NSW Police Force and the Australian Federal Police raided properties in western Sydney from 6am on Wednesday.
Search warrants were executed at homes in Blacktown and Guildford.
The searches were part of an investigation into identity theft and fraud and were not terrorist related, a police spokeswoman said.
The team began its investigation into targeted mail theft, mobile telephone porting and identity takeovers enabling large-scale fraud across Sydney in June.
