His name may be Magic, but this majestic Macaw found himself in a spot of bother on Monday, when we was rescued from a tall tree in the yard of his home in North Richmond.
Hawkesbury SES unit was called to the property on Slopes Road, North Richmond after Magic the Macaw was frightened by a low flying aircraft on Sunday and ended up four metres up a gum tree, out on a very thin branch.
Kevin Jones from Hawkesbury SES said Magic couldn’t figure out how to get down and had been there overnight, so his owner called for help from the SES.
“The SES team was called to Slopes Road, to assist and used some food, the amazing good looks of the SES volunteers in their orange overalls and a ladder to try to coax Magic down,” Mr Jones said.
“We eventually succeeded with the ladder re-positioned closer to Magic and he decided to glide gracefully to the ground to be re-united with his owner.”
SES officers enjoyed some cuddles and kisses with Magic before he was back in the arms of his loving owners.
