HAWKESBURY Cricket Club newcomer Usman Qadir finished off the job Jas Cheema started last week, by helping Hawkesbury Cricket Club defeat the University of New South Wales.
Cheema scored a ton on the first day of the NSW Premier Cricket competition match, and Qadir took five wickets to help bowl UNSW out well short of Hawkesbury’s total on the second day.
Arjun Nair and Luke Courtney also got in among the wickets, taking two apiece as Hawkesbury won its first two-day match of the season.
Meanwhile, Hawkesbury is undefeated through three rounds of T20 action, after taking down Campbelltown-Camden at the weekend.
Hawkesbury won the toss on Sunday and sent their opponents in, which proved a wise decision as they bowled them out for a meagre 56.
Hawkesbury chased the total down in 8.2 overs, with josh Clarke top scoring with 49 not out.
The club’s next and final regular season match is on December 3.
Second grade also had a win, topping an outfit that had not lost during the season to date.
After claiming a first innings victory, Hawkesbury went out to bat a second time, with Kerrod Gordon scoring 138.
Unfortunately, third fourth and fifth grade all lost to UNSW.
At the end of round five, Hawkesbury is in 11th place on the club championship ladder with 315 points.
In round six, Hawkesbury will play Northern District, a team which has not won in first grade this season.
