Liberal voters and home-grown Australians: Where the 'yes' case was won
Voters in electorates held by Liberal members of Parliament are more likely to support same-sex marriage than voters in Labor electorates, a Fairfax Media analysis shows.
Taken together, voters in Australia's 60 Liberal-held seats supported same-sex marriage by an above-average 63.3 to 36.7 per cent.
Voters in the 69 Labor seats were less keen, voting in line with the Australian average at 61.7 to 38.9 per cent. Read more

The same-sex marriage survey has exposed sharp differences in attitudes between Sydney's east and west after more than 1.1 million voters across the city voted against any change to marriage laws.
Sydney had three of the five highest yes-voting electorates in the nation (including equal top), as well as the seven electorates with the highest no votes.
Overall, 17 of Greater Sydney's 29 federal electorates returned a majority yes vote, while 12 had a majority of no voters. Read more.
'No' campaigners vow to keep up the fight
Lyle Shelton - the Christian lobbyist who spearheaded the crusade against same-sex marriage - says he didn't have enough time to counter the "relentless" campaigner on the "yes" side.
So now he's gearing up for a fight that could take "years or decades" to persuade Australians to change their minds.
The most prominent political opponent of the reform, former prime minister Tony Abbott, claimed vindication for the policy of putting the question directly to the people, even as 75 per cent of electors in his own seat of Warringah rejected his stance and voted for equality. Read more.
Police confirm report of Rooty Hill sexual assault was false
A teenage girl has been offered support after making a false report to police about a sexual assault in Rooty Hill.
The girl, 15, told police she was sexually assaulted by a stranger of African appearance while walking to school on Tuesday morning. Read more
'Why pick me in the first place?': Environmentalist 'dumped' for Ferry McFerryface
Clean Up Australia founder Ian Kiernan was told his name would grace one of six new Sydney Harbour ferries alongside other prominent Australians, only to have the offer suddenly withdrawn in favour of a joke.
Three of the new Emerald class ferries have been named after Australian doctors: heart surgeon Victor Chang; obstetrician Catherine Hamlin; and ophthalmologist Fred Hollows.
Two have been named for the indigenous leaders Pumulwuy and Bungaree.
But Transport Minister Andrew Constance announced on Tuesday the last vessel would be given the joke name Ferry McFerryface following a public competition attracting 15,000 suggestions. Read more
The ABC to embrace Netflix-style streaming from next year
The ABC is set to morph into a Netflix-style streaming service from as early as next year, and to use data and analytics to track which actors and stories resonate with audiences, board chairman Justin Milne has revealed.
Delivering the Hector Crawford memorial speech at the Screen Forever conference on Wednesday, Mr Milne avoided mentioning Netflix and streaming rival Stan by name, but did point to Amazon as a model for what the ABC is likely to evolve into. Read more.
Australian dollar slides to four-month low as wages disappoint
Australian wages rose by less than expected last quarter, with even a mandated jump in the minimum wage failing to lift workers' pay across the economy.
It's a weak result that threatens to sap consumer spending and inflation.
The Aussie dollar instantly slid a third of a US cent to a four-month low at US75.96¢ and bond yields fell as investors pushed out the probability of an interest rate hike to 2019. Read more.
