In the early 1900s more people lived in the County of London, than in Scotland. Today, however, much of the area is now designated to the county of Middlesex.
Trying to navigate the myriad of family history resources for London is not straightforward and it is important to know some of the city’s history to help put the records in context, and to know where they might be located.
Guest speaker at the next Hawkesbury Family History Group meeting at Hawkesbury Library will be president of Ku-ring- gai Historical Societ, Jenny Joyce.
She will explain online resources pertaining to family history in the context of London, such as births, deaths and marriage registers, census records, newspapers, wills, criminal records and much more.
She will show where to find this information online to learn more about families who lived in this great city over the centuries.
Ms Joyce has been researching her own family history for many years, and is also a professional researcher, lecturer, teacher and writer.
The talk is on Wednesday, October 11 at 10am. There is no need to book for this free event.
Refreshments are available after the meeting.
The library is at 300 George Street, Windsor.
