Atkins explains why he buried Matthew Leveson's body
After finding his boyfriend's "cold" and lifeless body sprawled on the floor after a night out, Michael Atkins thought he could "bury the body and nobody would know".
That is how the 53-year-old explained his actions after agreeing last year to lead homicide detectives to 20-year-old Matthew Leveson's grave site.
He even drew drew them up a mud map of the burial site. Read more
Man took 'trophy' photo after killing Karlie, court told
The man accused of murdering Karlie Pearce-Stevenson and her daughter Khandalyce Pearce allegedly photographed the young mother's body after "stepping on her throat and crushing her windpipe".
Daniel James Holdom then allegedly picked up two-year-old Khandalyce and checked into a motel near Wagga Wagga in south-west NSW, buying duct tape and dishcloths along the way in December 2008.
Seven years later, Khandalyce's skeletal remains were found stuffed in a tattered suitcase at the side of a desolate highway near Wynarka in South Australia. Read more via SMH
Coalition women form secret women-only WhatsApp group
Three pairs of dancing girls. That's how Julie Bishop, the most senior woman in the Coalition government, welcomed news of a secret women-only WhatsApp group established for her female colleagues.
The messaging group titled "Coalition Women" was established by the Victorian MP Sarah Henderson last Thursday. It was warmly endorsed by Ms Bishop, the Deputy Leader, and Queensland backbencher Michelle Landry.
"Great idea to form this group Sarah!" Ms Landry replied. Read more

Australian Border Force and the Immigration Department have had a serious setback in a high-stakes legal battle with against their main workplace union, with the Fair Work Commission throwing out much of the department's case.
The result is a spectacular "own goal" that the DIBP's brought upon itself by trying some tough legal tactics, according to the Community and Public Sector Union. Read more
Western Sydney to host aerotropolis summit in 2018
The NSW government will look at ways to unlock Western Sydney Airport’s potential when it hosts the Aerotropolis 2026 summit in 2018.
NSW Premier Gladys berejiklian made the announcement at Incheon Airport in South Korea on Wednesday night, and said industry leaders from around the world will be involved in the summit. Read more

Just over an hour before, he was not only part of an Eels side that notched up a half-century against the Broncos but had started the ball rolling in unforgettable style.
With Brisbane returning, he lined up as the whistle blew to start the match, chased diligently and was close by as some of his forwards met Broncos prop Adam Blair on the first hit-up of the evening. Read more
