A 22-year-old woman was taken to hospital last night after her car hit a light pole on Windsor Road at Vineyard.
The woman’s black Suzuki Swift hit the pole causing it to come down over the eastbound lanes about half a kilometre west of Boundary Road just before 10pm.
The woman was trapped in the vehicle suffering neck and back pain and experiencing trouble breathing.
She was treated by paramedics while SES volunteers worked to free her from the car. She was taken by ambulance to Westmead where she remains in a stable condition.
Endeavour Energy crews reached the scene around midnight to deal with the light pole. A spokesperson said as a crane is required to remove the pole, they pulled the sections apart and removed it from the road.
They then put a protective cover over the cables that supplied energy to the pole. The pole will be replaced in coming weeks.
Hawkesbury police attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances.
